Please join us in welcoming Cathy Segbefia MD to the CAPE - Center for Advanced Pediatric and Perinatal Education at Stanford Medicine team as a SASH Scholar from the Stanford Center for Innovation in Global Health Program! During her time at Stanford, she will focus on learning simulation-based techniques to improve care and outcomes for sick newborns. She hopes to leverage the expertise at CAPE - Center for Advanced Pediatric and Perinatal Education at Stanford Medicine to develop a simulation instructor training program at her home institution. Dr. Catherine “Cathy” Segbefia is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics and Head of the Department of Child Health at the University of Ghana Medical School (UGMS), as well as a Consultant Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist at Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital (KBTH) in Accra, Ghana. She is a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians and both a Fellow and Faculty Board Member of the Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons. She is deeply passionate about medical education and has led several postgraduate training and educational initiatives within the Department of Child Health, KBTH. In her spare time, Cathy enjoys reading and solving crossword and logic puzzles.
